Field Day
The club will set up solar/battery/generator powered HF stations in St. Vincent Park on the Barrie waterfront for this event held on the 4th full weekend of June each year. Field Day starts at 2pm our time on Saturday and ends at 2pm our time on Sunday.
See www.arrl.org/field-day for more information about Field Day.
Lighthouse Activation
Club members set up a temporary battery/solar powered 100W HF station beside the Victoria Harbour Lighthouse for the International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend which is held in August each year.
See illw.net for more information.
Provincial Park Activation
Members set up a battery/solar powered 100W HF station by the beach at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park after the beaches close in October. This is to take part in the Parks on the Air (POTA/WWFF) and Beaches on the Air programs.
See wwff.co for information about the World Wide Flora & Fauna in Amateur Radio program (WWFF/VEFF).
See parksontheair.com for information about Parks on the Air (POTA).

QRP Fun
Many of the WAX Group members enjoy operating QRP (low power) transceivers. We get together occasionally at Sunnidale Park (or other park) in the Barrie area to have some fun operating.
The RAC Canada Day Contest is held every year on July 1st UTC (from 0000Z until 2400Z) Which in our local time is 8pm on June 30th until 8pm on July 1st.
See www.rac.ca/contesting-results
The "Ontario QSO Party" is also on the weekend of April each year.
